Learning Facilities

Our learning facilities

At David Lewis, we are committed to creating the very best learning opportunities for all learners and our facilities are testament to that.

Independent living skills flats

A fully equipped learning space, divided into two “flats” where learners develop the skills to live as independently as possible. Learners may learn to budget, shop for ingredients, or cook – and of course, cleaning is also on the curriculum!

Juice Bar and Rainbow Café

Run and used by learners, staff and visitors, these fully equipped professional catering environments support Learners to develop work skills, while at the same time developing their communication and social interaction skills.

Top Farm

Our farm is a fantastic resource, and something we are very proud of.With an increasing range of animals from pigs, goats, ponies and donkeys to alpacas, wallabies and most recently, an ostrich! Learners have the opportunity to develop practical, transferable work skills.

Doggylicious – The David Lewis Dog Grooming Parlour

Dog loving learners can learn to run and manage this very busyenterprise activity which offers dog pampering, walking and day care.

Horticulture

As well as on-campus opportunities to learn horticulture skills within the gardens, raised beds and garden centre on our beautiful site, we also have the chance to work with our community-based gardening team which although based in Macclesfield, travels out across Eastern Cheshire providing training and work experience in general gardening skills (raking, mowing, weeding and small scale landscaping).

Health, fitness and well-being

Our fully equipped adapted gym, sports hall and all weather pitch are hugely popular with learners,as is our indoor swimming pool and sensory spa and our extensive fleet of adapted bikes. Some learners also play a part in the up keep of the bikes in “Bike Maintenance” work experience sessions.

David Lewis does not promote the lottery to children under the age of 18. David Lewis has implemented the following procedures to prevent children under the age of 18 years old taking part in the lottery:

  • The minimum age for play is detailed on our website
  • Children under the age of 18 are flagged on our database
  • Where possible we check our database to ensure persons are above the legal age limit before data is supplied for the use of a lottery.
