Create an 'In Memoriam' Fund

We appreciate your thinking of us at this difficult time; your support makes a huge difference to David Lewis, our projects and most importantly, to the people who benefit from our services.

An ‘in memoriam’ fund gives friends, family and colleagues an opportunity to raise funds in the name of their loved one and to help David Lewis very directly. Raising money in someone’s memory is a specific and positive way to celebrate their life.

You can create a tribute page on JustGiving, where you can tell the full story of the person you are remembering, using words and photographs and giving everyone the chance to share stories, thoughts and memories. Your friends and family can give to your page easily, safely and securely, wherever they are, whenever they would like.

Alternatively, you can make a donation in someone’s memory by post and ask us to establish a memory fund for you.

Leave a Legacy (Gifts in Wills)

Having provided for family and friends, a legacy is a wonderful way to make a lasting impact on a cause that is important to you.

A gift in your will supports the work of David Lewis for years to come and ensures that the positive impact we have had on the lives of people with learning disabilities, epilepsy and autism for the past 100 years will continue into the future.

How Your Donations Make a Difference

Each year we support around 350 people with complex needs to live happier and fuller lives. Our site is a calming environment, a haven for people who find day to day experiences frightening, challenging or too difficult to process. Here in Warford we provide homes, daytime activities, skills development, education and therapeutic input.

David, who has a mild learning disability and epilepsy has lived onsite here at Warford for 12 years. Due to his conditions he hasn’t been able to find regular employment but gained life skills by volunteering in our onsite Rainbow café.

David worked in the café three times a week. “I wiped down the tables and brushed the floor, and then I wrote the orders or I worked the till and did the money.”

He talks about what he liked about his experience. “I enjoyed myself, I liked doing the talking to people and having my dinner there.”

David’s support workers say that he really thrived when he worked at the café, it gave him a purpose and it seemed like he enjoyed having something to get out of bed for. His inter personal and conversation skills improved greatly, he became more confident in himself and after his sessions he’d walk back to the house with his head up in the air really pleased with himself.

Whilst we do receive government funding to run our extensive service here at David Lewis, it doesn’t cover all costs and is only allowed to be used for certain things. So, we rely on voluntary funding from people like you to help enhance lives and improve facilities.

Because with your support we can fund a range of things – from our Doggie Daycare vocational training to new specialist baths and equipment in our houses. We can create initiatives like Rainbow Café.

Thank you. Your support is valuable to all of us here at David Lewis.
