Why Choose David Lewis College?

We are an Ofsted Outstanding Specialist College for young people aged 19-25 with a wide range of complex needs, including moderate to profound learning disabilities, neurological conditions including epilepsy and autism and associated communication and sensory impairments, behavioural and health needs.

Flexible and personalised courses allow learners to study on a day, weekly boarder or residential basis, anything from 38 weeks term time only to a full 52 week residential placement. We support learners as per assessed need.

We offer a holistic learning environment and residential “Waking Day Curriculum” with access to on-campus therapists, medical specialists and specially trained staff.

We have a wide ranging curriculum with access to excellent learning facilities on our large campus. Learners have the opportunity to develop their work-related skills on our “Preparing for Employment” or “Vocational Pathways” which include animal care, horticulture and conservation and retail, customer service and hospitality. Many of learners graduate from the college to our “Adult Services Provision” on the same site.

Everything we do is focussed upon our learners. All learners are individuals and we are here to support them to become more independent and confident and prepare them for the future – be that moving on to adult day or residential services, supported living, further education or employment,

Young people benefit from our broad and balanced curriculum, with meaningful learning opportunities that focus on the promotion of communication, independence and life skills, including preparing for the world of work and employment.

From receipt of application, we ensure that we take the time to understand all there is to know about anyone who wants to come to study at our college.

We work with learners to find out:

  • their aspirations
  • what skills they already have
  • what they need to work on
  • what they enjoy – and equally, what they don’t!

We are then able to create an individualised learning programme that is suited to the learner’s aspirations and planned educational outcomes from the learner’s Education Health and Care Plan.

Admissions

Learners can apply at any time, as we can accept admissions throughout the year. We feel it is important to provide a personal service to ensure you are fully aware of what the college and David Lewis has to offer, so please call for an initial discussion and to make an individual appointment to come and look round.

David Lewis does not promote the lottery to children under the age of 18. David Lewis has implemented the following procedures to prevent children under the age of 18 years old taking part in the lottery:

  • The minimum age for play is detailed on our website
  • Children under the age of 18 are flagged on our database
  • Where possible we check our database to ensure persons are above the legal age limit before data is supplied for the use of a lottery.
