Residents take an active role

Residents take an active role in the Governance of Supporting Adult Living (SAL)..
The David Lewis Centre has a Charter of Service User / Resident Involvement, which commits to "placing the resident at the centre of everything that we do". The centre believes that residents have the right to be involved at a level they want to be. Or, to choose not to be involved if that is what individuals wish.
The adult residents of the DLC now have a high profile forum in which to raise issues, concerns and suggestions about the centre.
For some time a Residents Council has been meeting. The Council represents all the residents at the centre. Members of the Council recently voted for 3 people to represent them at a quarterly meeting with senior management, that forms a pivotal role in the governance of SAL.
Holidays
This year every adult resident has been given the opportunity and support to go on holiday. Many have chosen to go to the two DLC caravans at Portmadog in Wales. Residents have also enjoyed holidays to S. Ireland, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man and various other holiday destinations.
