Work Experience

Another vital part of our service provision is work experience, which gives residents an enormous feeling of value and self-worth.
Our centre shop offers a great opportunity for residents to gain valuable work experience in a thriving and realistic small retail environment. The shop is fully staffed with a manager and learning support assistant and sells a large selection of everyday items including sandwiches, drinks, confectionary, newspapers and magazines, fancy goods, cleaning products and cards.
Our woodwork workshop is open from Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 4.30 pm where residents make rustic garden furniture and figures for religious storytelling under the careful watch of experienced instructors.
Light Industries is open from Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 4.00 pm and provides essential services for our fulfilment contracts. These include packing of crayons and collating magazine and fundraising promotional materials.
We also have a Garden Centre where residents can put their horticultural skills to good use from Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
Day Services is encouraging an increased community presence with an off-site garden maintenance business which is available from Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. The garden maintenance team goes off site each day to undertake a wide variety of tasks including hedge cutting, winter clean-ups, mini landscaping and lawn mowing.
