Neurology

Because epilepsy is a disorder of the brain, many of the medical services at the Centre are neurology based.  The Paediatric and Adult Medical Directors are both Consultant Neurologists and the Centre has strong links with the Specialist Neurology Centres in the North West at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Hope Hospital Neurosciences Centre.

The Centre employs a full-time team of seven epilepsy specialists, supported by a team of ten visiting Consultants who all also have appointments in one of the NHS regional specialist centres.  The Drugs and Therapeutics Committee is led by a clinical pharmacologist and the neurology team is further supported by a number of neuropsychiatrists, psychologists, general and mental nursing staff and a wide range of other technicians and therapists.

Clinical standards are extremely high and the specialised nature of the service ensures the very best medical assessment and treatment.
