Chiropody Services
- Podiatry Services are available every fortnight and provide:
- Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of foot pathologies
- Toenail cutting if the person has very thickened toenails or ingrowing toenails
-Treatment if the person has a ‘high risk’ medical problem e.g.
-Diabetes
-Lack of sensation in the feet
-Poor circulation
-Rheumatoid Arthritis
-Take steroids (prednisolone) or anti-coagulants (warfarin)
- Treatment of corns, hard skin, infections or ulcerations
- Advice on footwear and footcare
- Supply of ‘off the shelf’ insoles for cushioning, pressure re-distribution and support
- Referral on to other health care professions as appropriate e.g. physiotherapist, nurse, orthotist.
