How do we do it?

Assessments may be residential but are frequently done on an outreach basis, depending on the issues involved and team members needed. Our team may include professionals from:

  • Paediatric Neurology
  • Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Paediatric Neuropsychology
  • Speech and Language
  • Education
  • Nursing
  • Care
  • Other clinical professionals such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, behaviour management  etc

All our team have experience of working cooperatively across the boundaries in order to achieve the best for the children. Some are based at The David Lewis Centre full time; many others work jointly between the NHS and The David Lewis Centre.

Paediatric Neurology is provided by Dr Tim Martland, Consultant Paediatric Neurologist who is based at The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital but has weekly sessions at The David Lewis Centre. He is assisted by Dr Rosemary Newton, Associate Specialist in Childhood Epilepsy who is based at The David Lewis Centre.

Results of assessments are discussed with parents and professionals involved with the child.
