Referrals/funding

External admissions to Richard Miller are planned well in advance. A Consultant to Consultant referral is required, although we welcome informal enquiries from social workers, GPs and those connected to the individual.
The multi-disciplinary team will discuss the referral at the team meeting and then the appropriate commissioning team will be contacted if the referral is appropriate, in order to secure funding for a home visit. A Doctor, Senior Nurse and experienced Care Officer will visit and compile a home visit report for discussion at the next admissions panel meeting. If it is felt the assessment would be of benefit the next the step will be to apply for funding for an in-patient assessment. On receipt of confirmation of funding the team will set a date for admission.
