Multi-Disciplinary Team
The AAU offers 24-hour medical and nursing care from a multi-disciplinary team of experts. Individuals will be allocated a key-worker group, headed up by a trained nurse, and supported by another trained nurse and care officers, or solely care staff according to an individual need.
Our Consultants conduct ward rounds and make regular visits to the unit. We also have a senior clinical medical officer available five days a week during normal working hours, with local GPs providing emergency cover at all other times.
The medical team is also supported by our team of trained nurses, including registered psychiatric and general nurses, as well as care staff who are on hand 24 hours a day.
We also have an EEG team who are responsible for some of the investigations used to understand the nature of the seizures and our Clinical Psychologists visit regularly to assess individuals. A social worker is also available for confidential discussions.
As part of our commitment to holistic care we also have access to the many other specialist staff at the David Lewis Centre including physiotherapists, hydrotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, speech therapists and dieticians.
