Frequently asked questions

Q - Will medical and nursing staff always be on hand?
A - Yes. We operate a 24 hour service at Frederick Harwood House with one Consultant, twenty nursing staff and forty two care staff and a doctor on duty or on call.

Q - How do I get a referral started?
A - You’ll need to get a named social worker or community nurse to refer you. If you’re not sure who to contact, your GP or Social Services should be able to help.
Are there any other therapies available?

Yes. We have access to the full complement of services provided by the David Lewis Centre. These include on-site physiotherapy up to twice a day where necessary and hydrotherapy on at least a weekly basis. The centre also has psychologists, psychiatrists and behaviour therapists as well as a dietician, chiropodist and dentist.
If I need to visit a relative is there somewhere I can stay?

Yes. We encourage friends and relatives to visit regularly and a house is available at the centre should you need to make an overnight stay.
