Admissions and criteria

Frederick Harwood offers nursing care for adults aged from 18 years and also has 6 beds for the over 65s.  The unit has 29 long stay beds for the chronically ill.  This includes people with complex epilepsy who are physically disabled, sensory impaired, have learning disabilities or are terminally ill.

We are able to provide care for people who have a disturbance of their normal epilepsy, as well as those who have acute medical conditions.  The unit is also able to undertake short stay investigations and treatment, offer external respite care within a health setting and provide comprehensive house assessment of epilepsy with high medical needs.
