Medical and Nursing care
The Richard Miller Unit has a Consultant Psychiatrist experienced in Learning Disabilities and Epilepsy, and a full time Senior Clinical Medical Officer. A General Practitioner is available on site and a G.P. Service is available out of hours.
Additional professional services are available from neuropsychiatrists, a Clinical Neuropsychologist, dentist, dietician, social worker, physiotherapists, and speech and language therapists, who are all site based.
The Richard Miller unit uses a range of diagnostic tools to address Epilepsy issues [electroencephalography, neuro imaging, telemetry], and also specialises in behaviour assessment and management.
Richard Miller encourages and supports on-going professional development to ensure that we meet our statutory obligations, and also provide our staff with a framework which enhances their skills. The unit offers a wide range of training opportunities, both mandatory and courses which will enhance the delivery of care.
Our specialist and highly trained staff have come from various backgrounds, both public and voluntary, and including a wide range of care settings, which in turn has brought to Richard Miller wide-ranging experience and expertise.
