Medical and Nursing care
The unit has a Consultant Psychiatrist experienced in Learning Disabilities and Epilepsy, and a full time Senior Clinical Medical Officer. A General Practitioner is available on site, and a G.P. Service is available out of hours.
Additional professional services are available from neuropsychiatrists, a Clinical Neuropsychologist, dentist, dietician, social worker, physiotherapists, and speech and language therapists, who are all site based.
The unit has access to a range of diagnostic tools to address Epilepsy issues [electroencephalography, neuro imaging, telemetry], and also specialises in behaviour assessment and management.
Richard Miller Unit encourages and supports on-going professional development to ensure that we meet our statutory obligations, and also provide our staff with a framework which enhances their skills. The unit offers a wide range of training opportunities, both mandatory and courses which will enhance the delivery of care.
Staff have come from various backgrounds, both public and voluntary, and including a wide range of care settings, and have brought with them wide-ranging experience.
