Frequently asked questions
Q - Do I need a Criminal Records check?
A - You will need an enhanced criminal records check provided by the Criminal Records Bureau but the Centre will obtain and pay for this prior to your start date. Previous enhanced CRB checks are not portable from other organisations.
Q - Will I need to work shifts?
A - All Care and Nursing staff work shifts, but you can choose between days or nights.
Q - What are the shift times?
A - These vary depending on which house you are based, but generally the early shift will start at 7.30am until sometime between 1.30pm and 4.30pm and the late shift will start half an hour before the early shift finishes and will end sometime between 9.30pm and 10pm.
Q - Is there public transport to the Centre?
A - The Centre is not served by public transport so you will need your own means of getting to and from work.
Q - Do I need experience?
A - You do not need experience as full training will be provided, but if you do have experience or a relevant qualification your starting salary will be higher.
Q - How many shifts will I have to do each week?
A - If you have a full time position you will do 5 shifts a week, which will be a mixture of early and late shifts, but you can work full days (double shifts) if this suits the needs of the house. Some staff only work part time and do one shift a week.
Q - Will I be working weekends?
A - All houses are open 24 hours, 7 days a week therefore you will be required to work some weekends.
