Here at David Lewis School we accept admissions throughout the year - so you can apply at any time. Our doors are always open. Parents, social workers and prospective learners are welcome to visit when considering a placement.
We also offer Open Days for parents, carers and potential pupils to visit the School before an application is made. For more details click here.
Step 1 Parents or the LEA should contact the David Lewis School directly. Use the "make a referral" button at the top of this page, or get in touch via the "contact us" page on the website.
Step 2 If you are a parent we will discuss the needs of your son/daughter in more detail - and if we feel they meet the relevant criteria, you will be invited to take a look around the School and our residences. You should then contact the LEA, so that they can make a referral - after which, we'll send you an application form.
If you are an LEA and your referral meets our criteria, again, we will send out an application form.
Step 3 Once we have received all completed sections of your application form, our multi-disciplinary admissions team will meet to discuss your application.
Step 4 If it is felt appropriate, members of our team may visit your school/family home/respite - to gain further information and determine suitable housing/class group.
Step 5 If we are able to offer an appropriate environment and learning package, we'll make an offer and apply to the relevant authorities for funding for the place. Once that's agreed, we can plan for a suitable start date.
Step 6 Before your placement begins you will visit members of our specialist teams for a handover.
Step 7 Depending on your individual needs we will arrange a transition, prior to you starting at the David Lewis School.
